Ledger Atom – Ledger announces new smartphone-inspired device

Ledger melts crypto hardware wallet and smartphone with new Ledger Atom announced at Ledger Op3n.

On today’s October 15, the leading crypto hardware manufacturer Ledger has presented a new device that was built to combine the security of crypto hardware wallets with the openness and connectivity of modern smartphones. The Ledger Atom was announced during the keynote of the annual Ledger Op3n.

The new device can be pre-ordered immediately and is both quantum-ready and AI-ready.

The Ledger Atom essentially contains two separate worlds that, unlike previously, were not separated and housed in two devices, but instead work in parallel—independently of and protected from each other.

Basically, the Ledger Atom functions like a normal smartphone. When the user needs the security of a wallet architecture, for example cryptographic encryption, the security mode can be activated. This switches on certain security parameters and approvals while turning off other features (such as the camera).

In doing so, the device draws on other current new developments from Ledger that were also announced today, for example Ledger AI Intent—a secure environment for controlling AI agents, such as those from OpenClaw or Grok.

While there have been some crypto smartphones before, such as the Solana Seeker, this is the first device that combines smartphone applications like document management or app usage with wallet infrastructure.

A key feature is secure communication between Ledger Atom devices. Two owners can, for example, send each other encrypted messages with it.

According to the company, the Ledger Atom can be used for any application that requires secure identity management in the digital world—for instance, storing IDs or legitimations.

Already now, whether in DeFi, communication, or identity management, numerous renowned partners such as Solana Mobile, 1inch, or Morpho have been secured.

Ledger has full access to the Solana Seeker Mobile App Suite.

The device can be pre-ordered starting today and will be delivered in 2027. It will cost 849 euros. A deposit of 100 dollars is required, which is fully refundable at any time if you change your mind before release. If you pre-order starting today, you get access to the “Founders Edition” with numerous benefits.
